Details about Complete Foundation Training Courses
Foundation Clicker Courses
These courses offer the customer a different kind of dog training class where the emphasis is on excellent customer service and expert, qualified tuition. The methods used are very up to date and fun.
The classes are very small, almost semi private with just four dogs, allowing a high degree of individual attention for people and dogs. The class size allows dogs to socialise effectively with the minimum of stress. The emphasis is on teaching dogs to focus on their owner(s) in the presence of other dogs.
These courses are perhaps similar to a college evening class for people, providing within the cost of the course:
Customer Feedback My dog and I have learnt so much in a welcoming, calm, friendly environment. The handouts, the explanations, the homework and the advice. We look forward to our class and have enjoyed every moment.

I would never have believed that eight weeks ago, my now five month old labrador pup would have learnt and respondede to so many aspects of his training. We have achieved over and above my expectations.
Nicola Thomas and her wonderful black lab pup Guinness - thank you Nicola it has been a pleasure to teach you both. October 2009
Complete Foundation Training Courses are for any dog in need of a good foundation of training. Puppies can come along as soon as they have settled in with you and older dogs are welcome regardless of age (its not true that you can't teach an older dog new tricks!).
Complete Foundation training is designed to give you a clear understanding of how your dog learns, how to motivate your dog and much more.

Commonly Asked Questions
Where and When?
Small group classes are help all year round at the Camrose Community Centre just outside Haverfordwest on the main road towards Newgale (not in Camrose itself). Classes are also held in St Davids according to demand.
I currently run daytime and evening classes on Mondays, and early evening and later evening classes on Wednesdays. Daytime classes may also be arranged on Fridays.
Who can come to classes?
Anyone who looks after your dog is welcome. If your dog is to be a family dog, then the whole family can come. Children who are old enough to participate are more than welcome and teenagers often come along with their own dogs. Similarly, if you employ a dog walker or if 'dog grandparents' help out, please do bring them along too.
What are classes like?
They are fun and informative. Long gone are the days of sergeant major type instructors who make people quake in their boots (or at least should be!). I aim to create an atmosphere where you will be happy and relaxed and when you relax, so will your dog. It is a known fact that neither people or dogs learn when they are stressed and the amount that people and dogs learn in my classes therefore speaks for itself (see feedback page).
Classes are a planned combination of presentations, practical exercises, games and discussions, with plenty of individual tuition and support.
What will we learn?
You will learn how your dog learns and how best to teach him or her, so that when you finish your course you will understand how to progress your training further and also how to teach your dog anything you may choose in the future.
The main exercises you will learn are as follows:
You will learn all this through Clicker Training, the most effective method of animal training in the world today. Dogs love it and people can learn it in just minutes. To date the age range of clicker customers to come through my classes is 5 years old up to 86 years old. Its great fun and you will learn how to use it for so much more than just the basics - a powerful tool indeed.
In addition to all this you will learn:
How is the course planned?
The Induction session lasts for two hours and is without dogs to allow customers to relax, get to know each other and take in all the information.
The remaining seven sessions are a combination of teaching, learning, practice, fun exercises and discussion, all professionally planned to suit each group. These sessions are ninety minutes long, because many people travel long distances so they are planned very carefully so as not to tire the dogs, especially young puppies.
How much does a Foundation Course cost?
Please take a close look at the prices for Windrush training courses. If you look at other dog training courses in the area you may well find a six week course for £60 or even £40 but most last only an hour each week, so you would pay around £10 per hour for a six week course costing £60.
Windrush Dogs for Life also cost £10 per hour. The whole course, including your two hour induction session, 7 further sessions of an hour and a half, Training Folder, all course materials, clicker, wristband, James Welbeloved Starter Pack and full e-mail support throughout is therefore £120.00 with the added benefit of the highest qualified instructor in the area and only three to five dogs on each course.
Concessions are available for people on income support and disabled people may access training through the Dog AID scheme.
How Do I Book?
You can contact me by telephone, e-mail (below) or through the Contact Page, I will then take some details from you and then send you a, Information Pack and Registration and Information form. Upon receipt of that form and your deposit, I will send you a confirmation letter and a Puppy pack (if you have a puppy!). The letter will give you directions to the hall and the confirmed dates and times of the course.
